Happy Teeth

Collaboration in action. Nurse practitioner, Tammy Edelkind and myself worked together to teach the first graders about proper care of their teeth. It was a great day! The kids watched a Brainpop movie and then rotated through stations where they practiced proper brushing and flossing techniques, sorting healthy and unhealthy foods and exploring the difference (with a hammer!) between enamel and soft teeth. They all received a healthy snack of fruit. Bags of toothpaste, dental floss and a toothbrush was distributed to each student to take home.

It was great having Mrs. Carr's awesome first graders in the library and learning about the importance of taking care of our teeth!! Thank you Nurse Practitioner Tammy for caring so much about our students and sharing your knowledge!

Yes, Ashley. Thank you to you and all the other 7th and 8th graders in the Library/Media Class for painting the (egg carton) teeth. The 1st graders knew exactly what they were supposed to be!
